The War Inside Me Poem by Kavitha Krishnamurthy

The War Inside Me

Rating: 4.0

No one comprehends the true me
Even I myself am oblivious
Of the actual me that is deep inside
With a phony smile, I do exhibit
A totally different side of mine
My true self lies sleeping beneath
A passive volcano, ready to erupt
But would it be destructive, I am unaware
Buried emotions packed under pressure
Totally concealed by the outer me
My true self seems lost somewhere
Behind the silhouette of the outer mask
The outer self eclipses the inner self
The eclipse is stretched, it does not vanish
The inner individual ready for a rebellion
But unprepared, waiting for the moment
So much pressure building inside
I am struck up in this war
The outcome lies with the serendipity
But I do wait anxiously for the climax

Very well done. Truthful, honest, and real.
