The Wave Of Flaming Desire Poem by Ernest Cook

The Wave Of Flaming Desire

The wave of flaming desire washed over me today.
I looked in your eyes and there was nothing I could say.
Speechless comfort was received in your touch.
Is it even possible to care too much?

Was that a sad look that blew across your face?
No, just the cry out to go to a different place.
Let's travel to the land where sorrow is erased.
Let me learn just how those lips taste.

Give me a reason, give me a sign.
How do you feel? Because I feel just fine.
Am I moving too fast? Do I need to slow down?
Oh I get it, let's get the hell out of this town.

Ten hours later, was it only a dream?
It had to of been, but you're still beside me.
We must be getting home now, is it worth the walk?
Hell with that let's just sit here and talk.

My parents can wait, how about your's?
I'll surely be grounded when I head through the front door.
Let's run through the forest, meet the birds and the bees.
Let's give parents a new talk to give their babies.

Give us a reason, give us a sign.
Two teenagers headed way out of line.
It feels so good and it feels so right.
Not a soul knows what we did that night.

We've been going on steady for ever so long.
Everyone we talk to tells us we're wrong.
Summer's by far the best time of the year.
We will embark on this journey that's been written down here.
