The sun shines bright, or rain pours down.
We talk of clouds all over town.
'Too hot! ' we sigh, 'Too cold! ' we say.
And watch the hours slip away.
We wish for snow, or wish for heat.
Our words are quick, our thoughts are fleet.
But though we speak, and though we frown,
The sky stays just as it is found.
We cannot push the wind aside,
Or make the stormy weather hide.
We just look up, and let it be,
This changing, wild, earth's decree.
