The Weeping Land Poem by Okunola Taofeeq Adewale fresh4125

The Weeping Land

By the sea side they anchor the death knell,
Ready to cart away the manure that nurtures the land.
The light Devil trodding in their numbers,
By the sea side the black sheep stood,
Awaiting their masters in shackled feet.

Oh, How the land weeps,
For the sacrilege committed by the black sheep,
Lured by the Devil for a drop of honey,
To betray its own kin.

The seed of civilization carted away from our land,
Across the sea, they planted the seed,
To be nurtured by our own,
And yet, tasted nothing from their sweat.

Africa, my mother land,
Can the sin of the black sheep be forgiven?
Will you ever recover from this exploitation?
When will the light Devil stop its pillage?
