The Whirling Dervishes Poem by Sumita Jetley

The Whirling Dervishes

In the dance of dervishes, they whirl and sway,
Embracing the divine, losing themselves in the fray.
'الله ولا إله إلا الله, ' they chant and say,
Affirming the One, in night and in day.

Sufi hearts beat in rhythm so true,
With every spin, the world feels new.
For in their dance, a secret lies,
Of love, of surrender, of cosmic ties.

The universe echoes with this profound creed,
'Allah and there is no god, ' indeed.
A journey inward, a quest so deep,
Where mysteries of the soul silently seep.

In the dance of faith, they gracefully twirl,
Connected to the cosmos, in a perpetual whirl.
For in each movement, in every spin,
They find the divine, both without and within.
