The Wind Poem by Ama Alma Okigbo

The Wind

Rating: 5.0

Sweeping by when the sky was ghost quiet
You could hear the crackling sails on the ship
And the burbling water against the ship
Yes, it is the wind
The mighty wind

Raising dust off the market road
Blowing dry clothes on the washing line
Taking leaves to places they've never been
Yes, it is the wind
The mighty wind

Turning windmills to generate electricity
Blowing farmlands into life
Snatching properties without permission
Yes, it is the wind
The mighty wind

Thinking of Hurricane Maria and Puerto Rico
Destroying all that is in its path
Leaving nothing but tears where there once was laughter
Yes, it is the wind
The mighty wind

Many forms of winds from gentle to the harshest described skillfully. Amazing portrayal. Thank you, Ama Alma.

This is good Ama, but reduce the explicit demonstration and use figuratives
