The Winter Shawl

She came from far, far away,
Maybe a few oceans away,
Or heaven above, who knows?
She herself was confused,
Where she came from, where she found refuge,
Where she landed, what she owed.

I saw her from a distance,
Never in her solace.
She was wildered, bewildered by shame,
By someone with no name.
I wished I could know her,
Even from afar.

Surrounded by certain mystery,
Little did she know she carried…
