The Wise Queen Poem by Suzawaka Phiri

The Wise Queen

I have no sons. I have no daughters.
Yet I am the female elephant
Who married the mighty leopard
In the infancy of day.

I'm not as beautiful as the moon,
I'm not as bright as the sun,
Yet on my head rests the crown.

I wasn't blessed with beauty
I was blessed with wisdom.
