The Wolf Poem by Amanda Larsen

The Wolf

Rating: 5.0

'Hate me'
Her lips yelled
But in her eyes
I saw she begged me to refuse

The salt in her tears
surprised my tongue
recalled my fears

The spear of sorrow hit my shoulder
Like a wounded soldier
Like a wounded beast

Don't tell me I don't know
I know!
I swam inside the coldest flow
Don't mock my unexcused scars
Let me touch what I don't see
Don't bring rain to hide the stars

Wolves were born to howl free
She clutched onto her prison's bars
She leaned against the metal
Ignored the drama in my act

The key-holder
We need to find the key-holder
We need to kill the key-holder!

I touched her pain
It scared me
But I will never go

Sensitive
to every kick
she can't control

You earn the trust of wolves
But when you raise your hand with threat
You lose the trust of wolves
The wild need respect

The wild need the wind
The prison is a sickness
Eats the wild soul from within
Misusing hands and metal bars
have hidden innocence in sin
And eyes that should be fire
refuse to open up

Wolves were born to howl free
Let me help you break the bars
Let me find the key-holder
Let me erase the scars

My wild beauty you shall breathe the wind
Don't shake your head…
If freedom is a sin
then hell is the only option

The spear of sorrow hit my shoulder
A wounded soldier
A wounded beast

I need you to be stronger now
Don't settle with the least

'Love me'
Her lips yelled
And in her eyes
I saw she begged me to forgive

I'll stay with you behind the bars
Watch isolation make you sick
And I will always search
For a lose brick
For the key-holder
For one more trick

Sensitive
to every kick
she can't control

The sickness of her soul
The treatment I don't know

I touched her pain
It scared me
But I will never go

Another day we'll flee
You'll see
the wolf that you are meant to be
I promise
I will set you free…
