I hate you
not because of who you are
not because of everything you've done
but because of what you've stolen from me.
Every word you say digs into me
like the knife I carved into my thigh
'selfish' written in blood, dripping down the countertop.
I hate you
not because you didn't believe me
not because you never loved me
but because you refuse to say you're sorry
An action so simple wouldn't fix everything
it would start something, something bigger than you and me
something that in time may heal and protect
something you could never do for me
I wanted love
I got words slammed back into my face
words I can't hear without picturing the scar tissue
words you've stolen from me
