There Are Poets And Poetasters Poem by Francis Duggan

There Are Poets And Poetasters

There are poets and poetasters as i ought to know
As I've been a poetaster since decades ago
And rhyme it has been around for a long time
Though it seems out of fashion nowadays for to rhyme,
The great poets of history their poems living on
But fame is of no use to the long dead and gone
And many great writers died in poverty
Which to say the least seems a bit sad to me,
Poets cannot be made they become poets by choice
And in every poets work you will find the poet's voice,
The soul of the poet it is flooded with light
And for the good of humanity the poet only write
And poetry for most a hungry belly game
And few reach the summit of literary fame.
