There Is A Bird In Its Cage Poem by Mohammad Younus

There Is A Bird In Its Cage

There is a bird in its cage
As the cage gets inhabitable
It wants to get out of the cage
But old bonding with the cage
Makes it too tough for it
It talks to itself in soliloquy saying
Stay in there,
I'm not going to let anybody see me
Becoming homeless
When no new home is in sight.
I'll get out at night sometimes stealthily
When everybody's asleep.
I know that new home is about completion,
So I won't be sad for leaving the old home
I'll gladly get into new home,
For singing my yet incomplete song of life there,
God won't quite let me die
Rather we'll be together like we were
On the Day of Alast with our secret pact
And it's nice enough to fulfill
the primordial covenant
Let me be happy, I am in divine presence.
