Dark Skin
Thick Lips
Kinky Hair
And Wide Hips
I Am More Than What You Have Heard
Aggressive
Loud
Loose
And Ignorant
I Am More Than What You Have Been Taught
Dangerous
Destructive
Unclean
And Immoral
I Am More Than What You Expect From Me
Lazy
Prodigal
Uneducated
Irresponsible
Just As I Know You Are More Than What I Have Experienced From You
Malicious
Self-Centered
Racist
Hoarding
Manipulating
Self-Righteous
Power-Struck
And Violent
Ask Me Who I Am
Tell Me Who You Are
I just wanted to say thank you for writing this poem. It portrays the struggles in life people go through everyday as being black. Its very immoral for one to be stereotyped because someone wants to have a small mind. This is a great poem because not only is it reality, its actuality. There needs to be more poets like you!
