There's No Time Except Now. Poem by Israel Moses N

There's No Time Except Now.

Tomorrow I'd say
I'll do this work andI'll play
Then I'd be carried off by today
In its Luxury and it's sway

But today is the tomorrow I talked about yesterday
And I have not worked but play
yet I live with dreams so high
each time they look so nigh

All that remains is to grasp
Yet despite all I try and gasp
I but cannot get an inch near
For today, I am still here

I'm still here waiting for tomorrow to come by,
While I wait for tomorrow today goes by
Time has fooled me
Now it dawned on me

Tomorrow will never be here
Though it'll always be near
For before it reaches here
It will its name no longer bear
For before it comes
Today it becomes

My blames I've given to friends,
For my sorrow, I blamed my foes.
I claimed they have their hands
In all of my woes

But I am myself's enemy,
now I know,
When today's duty,
I pushed to tomorrow.

So when tomorrow becomes today
And today becomes yesterday
I wish I still have yesterday
But yesterday is gone, that I know
Now I have only but today
To shape tomorrow.
