There They Sit Poem by Fathimath Farha

There They Sit

The stars shine bright in the beautiful night sky,
She sits and stares ahead waiting,
The trees quivered in the silent wind, shy
Of all the loving touch she needs.
A little cub sneaks beside her, lays its head on her lap,
She instinctively ran her slim fingers through its fur.
And there it sleeps, its eyes closing in for a nap.
As she sang to it in the silent air.

And there they sit, so perfectly,
Waiting for the dawn to break.
Yet they cannot see,
What truly lies ahead.

They lost everything to the guns and screams
They ran away, away from it all.
Praying quietly, for some peace ahead.
Still, all they got was more pain.
All they could do right now,
Is wait some more, maybe,
Pray for a miracle,
To help them get through these.

And there they sit, so perfectly,
Waiting for the dawn to break,
Yet they cannot see,
What truly lies ahead.

A little tear trickled down her lovely face,
As her dark hair, danced in the sudden breeze.
She looked down at her lap, her eyes searching,
For some answers she really need.
But all she got was the little cub,
And nothing more,
nothing else that they could depend on.

And there they sit, so perfectly,
Waiting for the dawn to break,
Yet they cannot see,
What truly lies ahead.
