Dear Wind Poem by Fathimath Farha

Dear Wind

Rating: 5.0

To,
The Wind,
The only one who,
Seems to be listening.

Come here, rest on my bed,
Calm down, would you stop a while?
Cease the rustling of the leaves,
And the drifting of clouds so far.

Come here, sit beside me.
And lend me your time,
Now stop the fluttering of my curtains,
They tremble like my fears kept within.

Will you carry my words with you?
To the land so barren, so soaked with blood,
It seems to be glaring, screaming out words,
That squeezes my heart, gripping me tight.

Carry my wishes to my little boy,
Who walks among the corpses and stench,
In the land of hate, where terror thrives.
Let him know he’s remembered and awaited for.

He went away, valiant and solid.
His eyes didn’t meet mine, when,
He said goodbye.
Dear Wind, tell him I’m still waiting.

My thoughts flooded with,
The memories of his smile,
The times I shared with him,
Oh, how he cared for me.

But now he’s gone, so far away,
From me, my little boy,
Went away and I fear I might,
Never see him again.

Oh please dear wind,
Help this old woman know,
That her little boy is still safe,
Still alive out there alone, so far away.

Dear, dear Wind,
Make him come back,
Tell him his mother misses him,
And yearns to hear his laughter again.

Tell him I’m waiting, still
Sitting on his bed, clutching
Onto his photo, wiping tears,
Away.

Tell him I’m expecting,
Him to return arms wide open,
Smiling like he always did,
Please tell him that.

Go now, dear Wind,
Go run along now, be of haste,
There’s no time left to waste,
Bring back with you, my little boy’s
Words, or even better yet,
My dear little boy,
himself.

Be quick now, dear Wind.
I will wait till I draw,
My last breath, tell my son,
His mother’s got not much,
Time left.
