There was a time indeed,
I tried out some deed.
And when at it, I paid heed.
I could rush in,
To rescue anyone when they were drowning.
I was very empathetic,
If I did not assist, it left me feeling pathetic.
There was a time I tried out my heart, mind and might,
But all grew feeble and somehow uptight.
This could not have happened in a night.
It took time to dim the light.
