There Was A Time I Loved You Poem by david lessard

There Was A Time I Loved You

There was a time I loved you,
Seems like a hundred years ago;
There was a time I loved you,
You were beautiful, you know.

There was a time I kissed you,
I fell 'head over heels' you see,
I was young, strong and foolish,
I loved you and you loved me.

Now, it's just a memory of loving,
You have changed and so have I;
We don't share the love and passion,
I finally gave up wondering why.

But I'll hold you in my dreams dear,
and for me, you'll stay the same;
you'll stay young and beautiful forever,
and I will take the hurt and blame.

You'll be there, my lovely sunshine,
The love we knew, it will not die;
I will be your knight in shining armor,
In my memory of the bye and bye.
