There Was Peace Poem by Samweli Butobi

There Was Peace

When life of peace was there
My neighbour gave me a story book
reminding me to read it, that book
Narreting how old people lived peaceful.

When words entered into my mind,
they met with my experience, and thoughts
memories and hope for living to old ages

I lost my story book running...
In fears of dying before my age.
Hidding in cave, alone, and lonely
I had no choise but to remember peace.

What in the world should we talk now,
think of what is hapening now,
the young being killed and dying

In the world people cry and moarn.
The war, the madder and hunger.
No piece in the world no happiness
only pains, sorrow and hopeless.

killing each other, by gun, rifles and machets.
Let's stop this killing, the streams of blood
from our fellow brother, sisters and elders.

We need peace to stop the pains.
we don`t need more crying
More dying, more moarning
Let`s stop killing, and live peaceful

I remember the world of peace.
In my story book,
my neighbours book.
