There Was Sun And Its Rays Here Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

There Was Sun And Its Rays Here

There was sun and its rays here
But I wished thundering
And yearned for sound of its cannon
Rhapsody.

For I be raw and rough and raw I like

And yearn for rains of fire more than rains of water.

And benighted in the dews
Get bathed
Yet will the dews of fire!

There was a Thunder in my Face
Do not wonder
I do not see black
Though my face blackens.

Come Rhapsody of Thunder

Come Spectacle of Lightning

The water cross directionless
In warning of directions.

Ire of benighted Man
Critic of Laws of Heavy Hand
‘there is a red heart of flesh, '
He shouted
And heard the immense heavens.

Then roared the immense heavens to the Earth
Through Thundering.

‘The Laws
All Laws unjust or exacting
To be challenged.

Do not bind the eyes of Laws to ruth and pity.

Let Laws be practical utmost in misery.

Relay this, relay this,
Relay this.'

From plain to plain; from rock to rock
The Words echoed
The Words of Heavens Immense
For Supreme, Just and Sacred were they.

Underlying thrived a Woman's Voice - it was my Mother's.
