These Are The Creatures Of God's Other World Poem by Shalom Freedman

These Are The Creatures Of God's Other World

These are the creatures of God's other world
The blind the deaf the lame
Those whose minds do not work anymore
Those whose minds never worked
In a simple ordinary way
The outcast lonely of the paralytically disabled
Those at the impossible end of ever being loved by the world
The lost the hopelessly sick the feebly aged
The creatures of God's other world
The world we pray to never have to live in
The world which is our own anyway
God's other world
God's this world
All those who have no hope of ever being
Simple ordinary healthy human being again or ever
Our other world also
Perhaps more than God's
Who we must pray for and love
As if we are them and they are us
perhaps because one day we may be them.
