These Days Now Poem by Jack Galmitz

These Days Now

My friend on Facebook calls himself Ox.
We've known each other for a few weeks now.
I don't know how long the friendship will last.
People change quickly these days. Not so
in the past. Then, we saw each other up close.

The star I saw tonight was the first one
I saw in ages. I didn't look up
I suppose is the reason. And the earth
is hard for many reasons. Few manage their stay well.
We leave behind faint traces.

About Ox. He has a large family
and lives out West. He is a cattle rancher.
I live in the East and I'm a vegetarian.
I saw no reason to tell him this. It might
end the friendship too fast. I thought I'd wait.

Besides, he might unfriend me for something else.
