These Walls Poem by Rupinder Chandel

These Walls

If these walls could talk,
You'd know about - THE MURKINESS
Staring through the window, up into the sky
As mysterious as a black onyx, seemed every night
My brooding eyes looking for the moon
that once shone so bright

If these walls could talk,
You'd know about - A FOUNT OF TEARS
Plagued inner senses won the combat
Nebulous hopes gasping for one last breath
Head - a spring of water,
Out-pouring,
the twin rivers of tears through swollen eyes

If these walls could talk,
You'd know about - THE CULPRIT
Perennial fidelity, roasted by your distrust
Your Long-standing quandary,
brought an eternal affliction to the heart
Every time people laughed,
this soul cried, screamed for help

If these walls could talk,
You'd know about - A COLLAPSE
Tender little heart, strangled to death
I lamented and mourned,
over and over again
It is now shrouded and closed,
Buried in my body - a tomb without an epitaph

Now, I commemorate the dead;
by a moment of silence
With no one else, but THESE WALLS
