They Are Poem by Tony Cemaluk

They Are

They are
Nonconfrontational, nonconformist, noncombatant.

Taciturnity becomes salad -
They chew silence and grow in solitude.

Proactivity, not reactivity.
Planning to pass, not to fail.

Slow and silent,
Lonely as lone wolf and strong too,
Yet gentle as dove and innocuous too.

Then, they are
The ones who watch unseen at midnight,
And know the in and out is still intact.
The ones who do not bark,
But bite history to build history,
Unperturbed.

They are.
