They Call Me Dedicated Poem by Melissa Joy Chesky

They Call Me Dedicated

They call me dedicated
They call me loyal
They call me all these things
Except for the most true of all:
Foolish
Blind
Naïve
I just go with a smile
Mechanically holding hands
Submissively following
And return with porcelain flippers
Just imagine the secrets behind those perfect teeth.
Because who can really smile anymore?
It's just a lie.
I'm just an actress.
They call me loyal.
They call me dedicated.
