They Have My Admiration Poem by Francis Duggan

They Have My Admiration

They have my admiration respect to them I pay
The people to help others who go out of their way
They are always helping people those of help who are in need
And they do not expect a reward when they perform a good deed
Not seen as the high achievers on their side of the town
The people who help people who are feeling sad and down
They are never applauded as the heroes of the crowd
But we ought to celebrate them and sing their praises loud
Yet many for their heroes they tend to look elsewhere
To the highly paid entertainer and the sporting millionaire
And the monarch and the president in their estimation grow
But the compassionate one of their neighbourhood they do not even know
Yet he or she is the person that I do most admire
And of singing the praises of such people I for one could never tire.
