They Laughed Without Knowing Why Poem by Lia Padena

They Laughed Without Knowing Why

you do not have to be afraid
to be in the sun
you do not have to hide your heart in the dark
when you fall in love
and the question you never put it
and it hurts even harder
alone with doubt
alone in the waiting
in which the question is asleep
and boils you into your deep
if the fear comes
so you'll get deeper into your sleep
and depression will give you ugly thoughts
to renounce
and you did not even know how it would have been
if you were going in front of the world
to seek answers

they laughed without knowing why
when she laughed at those who tried to make her afraid

now she knew she did not like despair
and she was rejecting the way of silence
