They Will Come Again Poem by Tosin Adesokan

They Will Come Again

Just a double couple of years ago
Rich destitutes were lingering over various choices
Where there is only an option obviously
As they kept on lingering, offers came to buy their sanities
For penny and pebbles, they sold their right tumb for free

A group of buyers came with brooms
Demonstrating how they far they can swiftly sweep the transformation they think they duely deserve
Since the buyers are not uncommon enemies of the society
Mushrooming multiple multitudes moved miserly to the sweepers' side
They dealded in feeble shekels which always vanish in vain time

A bunch of customers who have been to live and leave under one accord
Showed up at the field where the auction takes place
Promising to keep people under one single umbrella
Without telling people that the red and green colours of the tools stand for irregularities
They dealded in weakened dinars and people sold themselves

There are other sellers who tend to stay home
Hoping to go to the market when a potential buyer shows
Due to their negligences, silence market itself has been stolen by the peacekeepers
Broken by the previous acts,
Staggering for another double couple of years

Few years to come, buyers and sellers
Will show up at the same market
Some will be lingering and others staggering
We will be wailers who sings happy tunes
Like a coin tossed up, refuses to land with none of its side
