Things Fell Apart Poem by Patrick O'Reilly

Things Fell Apart

Down to the waterfront just for a spell
Kinda just wanted to breath in some air
To look at the stars for a minute or two
Mumbled a novena that fell on the deaf ground
Sang `Mary gave birth to a latchkey kid, while I ran away and hid'
Just couldn't seem to get my hands warm
No matter how much of that R and R i got.
I've decided for the first time I might need a hand or two
And I've decided to walk as far as I can
So that I don't ever have to go home again
'Cause things kinda fell apart
And she knows
Or thinks
I'm not the type to be rocking a cradle.
