Things I'll Never Say Poem by courtney metcalf

Things I'll Never Say

I love him so much and he doesn't understand
How I feel in my heart, that he's more than my friend
He doesn't love me back, and he doesn't have to
This boy has my heart, though he doesn't kiss me as he use to
I miss those times, though there weren't too many to count
They were never serious, but they've become something I can't live without
I wish he could still be here because it hurts when he's away
But he is just my friend, and these are things I'll never say
So I hug him a little longer and I tell him that I care
All I really want is for him to know I'm there
Even if I can't have him, I'll love him from a distance
Because a life without him would cancel out my only point of existance
It's the old umbrella story, where he's chasing for someone else
And I'll stand in his shadow, while I desperately try to help
I know I'll never be the one, but that's not really what matters
Because when you love someone you want them happy, even when it leaves you tattered
