Things I Never Knew Poem by Weldon Davis

Things I Never Knew

Said
I'm sorry for all the things I never knew
How 2 be a good man 2 you
Said
I'm sorry
And there is no getting over you
It's midnight in my heart
So blue

Blue the hue or color
Today I am another
Completely different man
Today I understand
I've never been god's gift
More like god's grief
My problems seem to outweigh me
In the night when others sleep
That's when it picks up
All the things
I said or did wrong
So I sit up
And write these poems
Look in the mirror
I don't even know em
Just a shell of my former self
I can't lie
Just going through the motions
Trying to get by
(Selah)

I never knew you didn't see yourself
Growing old with me
I never knew you didn't want
Control from me
Ya wanted to be free
In hindsight I see
Ya never wanted to settle down
You just wanted to run around
Go ahead Flojo
Get to running
Hope ya reach ya destination
At a safe pace
Hope ya get what ya always wanted
When ya reach that place
Ya wanna be
Said
I hope ya content
When ya reach that finish line
I hope you're happy
Don't worry about me
I was a baby born blue
Caught up in the moment
All the things
I never knew
About life
About love
About freedom
About you.
(Selah)
