Weasels Poem by Weldon Davis

Weasels

Rating: 3.5

Like weasels they snicker
In dark corners
They laugh at the idealists
The poets
Criticizing every verse
Every thought
Like it should be embarrassing
To have a mind of your own

To them it is (embarrassing)
I wonder if ever
These people ever step out of their
Safe zones for once
-Or-
Are they just oblivious
To how truly nauseating they are

Sure I may be wrong
From time to time
My actions
The ones I've done
-Or-
The ones I contemplate
Keep me awake most nights

I feel like at times
I'm at the mercy of these creatures
These spineless followers who laugh
At my misfortunes
Yet want credit for my successes

I can't shake them
The world is over run with them
Full of them
Pretty soon
(If not now)
I'll be on the endangered species list
Me and my kind

The kind of people
Who are courageous enough
To bring forth original thoughts
No matter the consequence

No matter how many weasels
Snicker in dark corners
At something they'll never understand
Nor dare be

It seems these types of people are all over and are compensating for their shortcomings. Well written, Weldon

The weasels are the critics and moochers who have no original ideas of their own..yet laugh or balk at people who dream..There is an assault on creativity in this world and its up to us as poets and thinkers to call them on their bs..Thanks again for your comment and read I appreciate it :)
