Patience Poem by Weldon Davis

Patience

Rating: 5.0

One day at a time
I'll find the new me
Discover talents I never
Knew I had

One day at a time
I'll let my walls down
Bring new people into the fold
Believe in myself

One day at a time
I'll live life on my terms
Accept blame when it's mine
And discard it when it's not

One day at a time
One day at a time

All the chips will accumulate
All the praise will radiate
All the fears will suffocate
And all my dreams will become feasible

It's so hard to do the
Right thing(s)
I know
Cause I've been doing wrong
So long
That all the bad songs ever
Sung
Resonate in my lungs
I sing them in my
Sleep
My friends and family
Have heard every tune
Have witnessed every chaotic concert
I don't pray often
But when I do
I ask god
To help me make those
Changes in me
That everybody else sees
But I don't yet
I ask god
To give me guidance
Even when I think
I have it all mapped out
(I always think that)
I ask god
To give me the patience
To live my life
One day at a time
One day at a time

An inspirational song. Having patience to wait for the turning point to usher in one's life is necessary but it must be accompanied with a strong desire for the change and hard work in that direction with positive approach. Thanks for sharing the meaningful poem.10 points.

Thank you for your kind words. Patience was written for a poetry slam we had for our recovery group in prison.I have a few more I've yet to post that are along these very lines. Writing about recovery as a source of inspiration is daunting at times for me; simply because I believe that if our words are to have meaning, we must live up to them.
