Thirst Of Life Poem by Matin Bairagi

Thirst Of Life

Whom I search!
Is that an estuary of lifeless eternity? Or a memoir, a raga, a tune?
An abandoned river or a setar melody! A bird feather! Footfalls of a passer-by!
Sunbeams oozing from kalmi leaves! Or cucumbers! Any mistake: a mistake-
The hizal tree swung in a swing! The desolate bird in the ploughed field!
You were that! Or a short sun-drenched breeze slipped off like a star!
Or she once came by my window in a leisure!
Decsened as sunbeam! Or the star was kindled like a lantern!
Who was she? She came into my wisdom, the thirst for time!
She saw her face in a make-up mirror! A sorrow! Or a pain for me-
