Being this ancient bird,
wouldn't it have been amazing to have had the wisdom,
the knowledge learned when in the twenties something,
then reaching into middle prime
to see it all repeated time and time.
Nothing changes, all has been done before,
the same old stories, the same old lore
of scandals, wars and mysteries
in governance and history.
But today is now,
three generations come and gone
and what is now is thought all new and only just begun
with little understanding
that those oldies still existing
have lived that life
have seen that strife
though names have changed
and events just rearranged.
If this ancient bird would now speak out
and tell the young what it's all about,
don't suppose they would even listen,
"It's our world now, we do our thing,
you've had your turn, look what you've got us in"!
Being honest, yes, that is likely true,
the youth will find their own way through
and this ancient bird will carry on each day
with time that's left to witness all recurring fray
