This Circle Will Not End Poem by Ciera Ivey

This Circle Will Not End

It pains me so to think
That you're with someone else
And even though you're not mine
I want you to myself

The ring tells me
That it will never be
That your smile and touch
Will soon fade into a memory

You're with your special someone
That I secretly hate
And even though I am loved too
My sadness is very great

I didn't plan it this way
And neither did you
But the first time I heard those words
I knew I loved you too

And the more I think about
A life without you here
Right by my side
My heart sheds a tear

Although I knew this would happen
I risked my tender heart
And as the years go by
We'll slowly begin to depart

Why can't we choose who we love?
Do you think this too?
If we could choose,
Would I have chosen you?
