His desperate eyes are fixed on me
I don’t know where to turn
The gleam in his eyes slowly fading
Inside my heart a burn
His small thin body
Outlined against those baggy rags
No flesh but all bones
His eyes not eyes but sags
His shoes worn out barely covered
His feet merely blisters
I can see his pain through his walk
Begging the misses and misters
Closer and closer he gets
My feet transfixed to the ground
I can’t pull my eyes away
In this world I don’t hear sound
Towards me his bony hand stretches
His mouth begins to speak
“can I have some money? ” he says
His voice so quiet and weak
I don’t have money to buy him clothes
My parents wont let me touch him
The only thing that’s left to do
Is give him some money to please him
He thanks me with so much gratitude
Then turns around to leave
That’s when I spot the scars on his back
Which leave me in total grief
One day I will change his life
To see him gleam again
One day I will change the world
And make its’ people sane
