This Is The Night Poem by Braden Patton

This Is The Night

Rating: 5.0

We are the ones who come in the night.
We don’t fear or sleep or shy or fright
We live in the shadows of a myth,
Hidden by the cool damp mist.

We live by the moon and obey the call
To come each night and conquer all.
We are the ones who cause the screams
In broken, crying, hopeless dreams.

You run from the sound
Of our hurried advances.
You shudder and tremble
When you think of our glances.

You try to hide but know its in vain.
You hope to god we don’t call your name.
You fear the worst but hope for the best
As we dash in the dark and go for your chest.

On the ground we instill the bite
More than you can fathom or even recite.
We are the ones who take your fear,
What is it to one who is no longer here?

You become one of us and we hold you near.
We watch out for one another here.
You cant get away but you don’t want to.
It is here where you belong,
Here you are new.
We give you new life,
and with that you are sure,
here you have found the cure.
