This One Or That One Poem by L. T. Padgett

This One Or That One

One begins to play the corporate game
Grabbing for power, wealth, and fame
Slowly dying by their very own hand
Ignoring truth, where they used to stand
How much can I make, it is their bottom line
Thinking this creed will stand, against the test of time
Throwing change to the homeless, this one becomes so very proud
Forgetting there are millions starving, this one covers them with a shroud
Then there is one that is enlightened, their wealth a humble amount
This one gives beyond measure, and usually does without
This one humble, giving in silence, asking for nothing in return
This one is a teacher, who’s lessons we should learn
This one stores up treasures in heaven and heaven is within
The other one stores treasures here on earth, their heart is full of sin
For some this truth is blinding, and others it’s easy to see
When we give all we have to give, this is how Yahweh wants us to be
