This...Pen....Of Mine - Defined Poem by James B. Earley

This...Pen....Of Mine - Defined

A treasured secret...long I've had
It's never failed to work out right...
Whenever I'm burdened and solace seek
.....I take....to pen.....and write

The pen just seems to set the tone
.....It's difficult......to explain
Ofttimes resolving on its own...
In some well thought out refrain

.....Analytic...therapeutic
The two somewhat entwined....
A treasured secret long I've had
....This...pen....of mine....defined

Author's note:
This past Saturday, the day before Mother's Day 2018, I attended a musical performance starring San Francisco Bay Area's own Matthew Applin's, soulful crooning in the park, backed by his fabulous Midnight Band. During an intermission, I had a conversation with Matt's wife, Carolyn about my varied poetic musings, and why my impetus to write. This morning, thinking of that conversation, I composed "This...Pen....Of Mine - Defined, " dedicating its words, with a precious note of thanks, to Carolyn Applin. Carolyn, be well!
