It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you
Without doing more so that you could be rescued
From tyranny, leaving all those guards to molest you.
It was in my heart, but I could do naught to protect you.
I wish I could take back everything that you went through.
Sadly I cannot, but we can fight, so others aren't sent to
The same Hell we were, where the Devil did test you.
My brother's and sister's I hope you know I did my best to
Lift you up while I was with you, there in that cesspool.
I fought just as hard or harder than anyone can attest to
Just to survive. Fight, so that you could catch a breath too.
Took advantage of our plight, did things they weren't meant to.
Beat us, broke us, not feed us, choke us. Only distress grew.
How were we supposed to be, being oppressed through
The most important years of life, not knowing it'd be the rest too?
Soon I hope you find closure, and that our Lord will bless you. ♥️

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The Sununu Center, or Y.D.C. as it was called when I was there 30 years ago was worse than most jails/ prisons in America today. Very sad. Most of us are dead or in prison now. I'm one of the lucky ones who found a wife willing to teach me about a better life.
