This Ring Poem by The Poet Darkling

This Ring

Here…take this ring from my finger,
It holds no meaning for me anymore.
The diamond's chipped and it's tarnished,
And the sight of it makes my heart sore.

For so many years I wore it,
And remained true to the promise I gave;
To love, honor and cherish you
Until the day I am laid in my grave.

But you perverted what we had,
Twisted the meaning and broke my heart.
You said you no longer loved me,
That the time had come for us to part.

So take this ring off my finger,
All my promises were made in vain.
I have loved you and have lost you,
And shall never wear this ring again.
