This Sleepless Slumber Poem by Spencer Zimmerman

This Sleepless Slumber

Do you see this?
Because I continue to stare
It seems we aren't grateful of presence
When strangers remain being strangers

The only strangeness being the unfamiliarity
-Division between you, us, I, and we
As there is so much potential within gratuity
When our glance moves; -relations of self in others

And when they cry ‘wake up', I no longer think politics.
So what exactly are we waking for? -This sleepless slumber.
Wrapped up in bows waiting for the next big show
As this twenty-twelve date creates overhead

When did change become a trend? -As if fashionable?
Though the Maya made their prediction long ago
And to believe in a long lost legend,
Would spawn within a question of faith worth leaping…
