Thorn-Less Roses Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Thorn-Less Roses

Rating: 2.7

You strip the thorns from all my roses;
they preen themselves
in the Soul Dust
from your eyes.

The brook in my heart
plumbs your depths
rush down
the waterfall
to swirling
rapids below,
tracing the path
to our
Spiritual Sea;
settling there
in the peace
Thorn-Less Roses bring.

There among the sediments
layered over these years
are our hopes;
our dreams;
the children who lay down
to dream each night,
as we once dreamed,

of pretty roses
and deep blue seas.
