Those Historic Symbols - Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Colonel Blood was no fantasy
Colonel Blood was for real!
Years ago he proposed
To steal Britain's Jewels:
Crowns swords sceptre and rings
Symbols of a thousand springs.

But now the Jewels are in the Tower
Safely guarded from hour to hour.
So have no fear, Colonel Blood
Can't reappear...he lived long ago
In the reign of King Charles
From yesteryear.
