Three Gorges Tour [1-3] Poem by Charles WOO

Three Gorges Tour [1-3]

Rating: 5.0

Three Gorges Tour [1]
How misty, steep, savage and strange are the three gorges' tip!
Grand 'Qu-tang' gorge seems undergo uncanny workmanship.
Green trees grow atop the 'Dragon Gate' where 'Ba' fog will clip.
‘Xi-ling' and ‘Shen-nu' gorges impress me most after the trip.

Three Gorges Tour [2]
Tourists peep the true face of the fairy maiden.
Cloud and rain coil the misty Mountain Wu darken.
Many hills seem to lock the way of their ferry.
Reaching them, they find new peak looking like berry.

Three Gorges Tour [3]
Rapid water of Yangtze River passes the three gorges.
Under the gaps of steep hills, our ferry crosses.
Thin mist and green trees surround the strangely shaped boulder.
Above which clouds idle in an elegant and quiet manner.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I regret that my eyes will not see the Yangtze in this life, and I thank you for this contemporary glimpse. I have always loved the classical chinese paintings of the river with mountains and mist. Your poem reminds me of them.
