Three Musical Composers Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Three Musical Composers

Why must I always write about love
the love between man and a woman?
Of course, true love is top of the scene,
but today I'm in love, hear my heart sing?
In love with the Classic Composers...
even though they were born years ago.
I see them and hear them
I admire and cheer them
for the magical talent they show.
So I write three monorhymes
on Masters from ancient times.

Offenbach:
Operettas in the spring
Overtures take wing
La Belle Helene, echoes ring.
Offenbach hailed as king.

Massenet:
Meditation, music flows
Dancing ballet grows
Intermezzo like the rose
Massenet's greatness shows.

Mendelssohn:
Fingles Cave, Hebrides gleam
Variations on a theme
Classic symphonies supreme
Mendelssohn ~ evergreen.
