Three Precious Words Poem by Runita R Menezes

Three Precious Words

At times when I was lonely I have often wondered,
That without love what would the world be?
Then after deep pondering, I realized,
That without love I wouldn’t be me.
Neither would you be you,
If you couldn’t say “I love you”.

Three precious words created by us humans,
That makes us feel, as if we belong.
Eight letters of the alphabet,
On which have been composed many a song.
Much more than just mere words are these.
To mine and your hearts, they are the keys.

When they are said,
They can transform one's soul.
And when they are reciprocated,
One’s lonely heart becomes whole.
These are words that are conventional
But in spite of this are special.

These words can make a stone heart cry,
They can also make pain die.
If you have'nt used them yet, I'll give you a clue,
Just turn to the person you care for deeply,
And say “I LOVE YOU”.

Well written Runita, three little words we forget to say to those important to us, then again sometimes we do say it and its not reciprocated - life sometimes throws a curved ball....
