Through The Glassy Lake Poem by William He

Through The Glassy Lake

Through the Glassy Lake
By William He

A gust of fresh breeze,
Gulls flying to their distant shelters,
Anti-wave fishes leap from their caves.
Currents emerging from the half-light.
Tumbledown brownstones like heaven's flax.
A singular apparition's eyes.
Stars of twilight, burning fair,
With something angelic in her shot.
Sounds from the blades where whirlpools break,
Liquid turtle carried down to gloom.

Gone beneath its tidal sheet.
Its wonders many, its secrets few.
Someone returns, circles of silver,
Like sonar beams, long-range and bright,
Stamping an image in the water.
The meteor, the beaming comet,
Look serene above the bridge,
Lingering until, upon the brain,
The coded silence settles in a crystal cage,
Breath from unpromising waves.

Suspense, both pleasure and pain.
An imaginary place unfolds,
Drips falling in steady rhythm.
Rising from the waters,
Emissaries begin their clockwork turn.
Nesting in the silence,
A splendid hollow for a while.
Pegasus fades into the air,
As something staggers on glass walls, purple.
