Thru My Rearview Poem by Lorenzo Cruz

Thru My Rearview

my foot is to the pedal
looking thru my rearview,
with our battle I will not settle.
call it a stale mate,
you really lost, may be it's too late.
true. I took the cup of tempation,
and glutted my thirst, late that night
the demons gave me a standing ovation.
hounded by this poison, running thru my veins
lust stalked me, and preyed upon me in vain.
I hid behind, my fear of hell, and the love we shared
now in jeopardy, because you were aware.
both of us died that night, our hearts felt an eternal wound
bled out, death lurked in the shadows, can this really end so soon.
heroic faith and courage, it took to keep on living.
we swept it under the carpet as if nothing happened.
you ran into anothers' arms, across the country, not minding
the destruction, you left to your own family.
Because that love was not founded on love, it sunk the depths of hell
condemned for eternity, not even time will tell.
You sat there, in a pool of tears,
still I was near,
sustaining you with my prayers,
and dedication,
even after two years,
you can't see the divine love,
even your breath is damnation.
compare your life to others,
and see that mercy is needed,
but love won't even glance your way,
if you cannot forgive,
if I let you go will you come back,
that question makes me go wack.
But my life is in His hands,
perhaps it's just that I suffer for my sins,
Today I make a stand, and die anothe death deep within,
to walk away, and start a new journey,
looking thru my rearview, eyes blurry.
